About The Position

This is a full-time Machinist Senior position located in Elyria, OH. The role involves operating and setting up conventional and numerically controlled machining centers to produce precision parts and support continuous improvement efforts. The work directly impacts production quality, throughput, and cost reduction, requiring collaboration with the production team and engineering. The position is onsite, on the 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), 5x8 days, with guaranteed 40 hours/week.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of related machining experience
  • Ability to perform machine setups and run manual machines (e.g., Hardinge manual lathe, Bridgeport mill, surface grinders)
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions
  • Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics (may include trigonometry)
  • Experience adjusting feeds, speeds, and depths of cut to meet tolerances
  • Proficiency inspecting parts with precision measuring instruments
  • Experience applying lean concepts and tools in the work area
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortable using computers to access blueprints, process plans, and job-specific systems
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions without direct supervision
  • Ability to manually program a 3-axis Haas type milling machine (with a 4th axis workhead)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with semi-complex machining jobs and reworking parts
  • Prior exposure to division-specific SPC and specialized automated systems

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run multiple production machines; perform operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming
  • Install and adjust cutting tools and make machine adjustments to maintain part quality
  • Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods
  • Inspect parts for conformance using gauges, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and magnification equipment
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability; perform routine maintenance
  • Perform statistical process control (SPC) and document results per division requirements
  • Implement and suggest lean improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs
  • Follow established manufacturing methods and observe safety and housekeeping standards
