Machinist (R&D)
About The Position
In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. You'll be joining Global Product Engineering’s Mechatronics group, based in Fremont, CA. This team is at the forefront of new product development for wafer handling robotics and mechatronics assemblies. As an R & D Machinist, you will play an essential role in developing cutting-edge robotics and mechatronic solutions for Lam tools. Your contributions will help accelerate time-to-volume, optimize cost structures, and ensure world-class quality, directly supporting Lam’s growth and technological leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency with a wide variety of industry tools and machinery
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven experience with precision machining tools and equipment
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the R & D machine shop operations
- Operate both CNC and manual mills, lathes, and other precision cutting tools and equipment
- Calibrate, set up, and install cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments on manual and CNC machines
- Cut, shape, and fabricate tools and machine parts with high precision
- Collaborate closely with engineers to design and fabricate precision parts
- Utilize 3D CAD to convert engineering models for CNC machining
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, technical instructions, and specifications
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations
- Regularly clean, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment as needed
