About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a Machinist B to work at our facility in Camden, AR. This role involves producing parts, components, and final assemblies using various fabrication and assembly techniques. The machinist will operate a range of machinery and shop equipment, fabricate and assemble parts, and support research and development programs. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting processes, coordinating equipment setup and calibration, and maintaining a clean work area. The position requires the ability to work closely with subject matter experts and obtain a US Security Clearance.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

Ability to read and edit G and M codes.
Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Produce parts, components and final assemblies using composite fabrication, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, re-work, quality testing, and assembly utilizing detailed work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts or manufacturing test development or diagnostic equipment.
Operation of various machinery and shop equipment which may include but not be limited to ovens, autoclaves, manual lathes, CNC lathes, CNC milling centers, manual mills, boring mills, presses, furnaces, mixers, grinders, swages, paint booths, fume hoods and automated welding equipment.
Fabrication and assembly of piece parts into completed sub-assembly using assembly tools.
Machining of sand mandrels.
Facilitate and conduct OJT training of technicians as required.
Works with management and supervision to meet critical deadlines.
Produce development hardware to support research and development programs.
Troubleshoot processes and identify, modify and/or escalate out of control processes and production escapes.
Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or engineers in the set-up and calibration of equipment.
Set up of tools to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Follow all L3Harris Quality and Manufacturing Policies.
Fabricate new build parts from engineering drawings and sketches.
Rework or modify of mechanical parts as requested by engineering or production.
Design of fixtures and tooling needed to fabricate parts.
Maintain work area and machine shop to 5S + 1 standards.
Participate in preventative maintenance activities.
Capable of working closely with subject matter experts and following verbal and detailed directions.
Clean machines, equipment, and work area according to Standard Operating Procedures
Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
