Machinist Level 3
About The Position
The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup and operation of manual and/or CNC machining equipment, including the DMG-Mori NT4300. This role requires the ability to program at the machine for CNC equipment and machine components to meet print dimensions and tolerances. The machinist will use various measurement tools to ensure accuracy and maintain an organized and safe work environment. They will also drive improvements in the work center for safety and efficiency, accurately complete all paperwork, and stay up-to-date with required trainings. This position involves working on a variety of parts and processes across multiple machines, relying on experience and judgment for complex assignments. The role may also involve training and checking the work of lower-level employees, and potentially serving as a manufacturing lead employee.
Requirements
- Typically, greater than 10 years’ experience doing similar work
- Working knowledge of DMG-Mori NT series machines
- Understands and buys into a zero-accident safety culture expectation
- Strong shop math skills including arithmetic, conversion of fractions to decimals, basic trigonometry
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/production drawings including tolerancing
- For CNC machines, a strong understanding of G-code and / or conversational programming
- Knowledge of fixturing and safe / effective work holding
- Firm understanding of turning and milling insert geometries and grades
- Understanding of cut conditions including appropriate feeds, speeds and depths of cut, heat inputs and work hardening
Nice To Haves
- Operation and setup of DMG-Mori NT4300 with MAPPS/Celos control
- Experience working with cast materials
- Previous experience machining stainless alloys and super alloys
- Previous experience with 5s and lean manufacturing principles
Responsibilities

- Accurately completing all paperwork associated with tasks being performed
- Keeping up to date with all required trainings
- Working on a variety of parts and processes across multiple machines
- Relying on experience and judgement to complete assignments
- May train lower-level employees
- May be called upon to check the work of lower-level employees
- May be designated as a manufacturing lead employee
