This position requires the ability to perform satisfactory work with minimum supervision. The Machinist III will perform machining setups, make necessary adjustments, and inspect the work produced. A continued interest in good housekeeping and safety practices is expected, along with developing an awareness for support groups and engaging in Continuous Improvement activities. The role involves adhering to all EH & S regulations and policies, reading and interpreting drawings, sketches, and blueprints (including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances), and operating machine shop equipment like mills, lathes, and drill presses to meet specifications without supervision. Inspection of completed projects using precision measuring instruments is also a key responsibility. The position requires completion of a certified operator program, proficiency in all SPC functions, and maintaining required documentation. A working knowledge of machine control languages and extensive use of company data collection mechanisms are necessary. The role includes conducting self-quality audits, performing first piece and subsequent inspections, ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are met, and maintaining an organized work area. The Machinist III will also engage in Continuous Improvement activities and perform other duties as directed.
