About The Position

We are seeking a knowledgeable Machinist II to join our team at Elemet Manufacturing. Under limited supervision, this position performs proficient operations of a machinist. This role involves an advanced understanding of various machinery and equipment necessary to produce metal components, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The Machinist II will also be responsible for machine setups, performing small programming edits, and assisting with preventative maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years machining experience and working knowledge of basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to safely perform work in varying work conditions.
  • Working knowledge of machinery with previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Effective problem-solving skills/detailed oriented/sense of urgency.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Moderate math skills (fractions, decimals, metric conversion).
  • Working knowledge of different metal materials.
  • Basic understanding of surface speeds, chip load.
  • Forklift certified.
  • Ability to follow hoist safety protocols.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools.
  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Consistently wear personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in production facility with fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels.

Responsibilities

  • Performs proficient operations of a machinist.
  • Advanced understanding of various machinery and equipment necessary to produce metal components.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/Tag out.
  • Understand and accurately report daily production quantities to meet set number of parts per hour.
  • Consistent and accurate counts of materials and products.
  • Performs necessary quality checks on product and completes daily communication.
  • Ability to perform advanced adjustments and repairs to machines.
  • Ability to setup workstation according to safety standards to perform maximum efficiency.
  • Promote “safety first” mindset across production floor and ensure staff are following safety procedures/guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to established procedures.
  • Ability to recall and input programs.
  • Perform complete machine set ups without assistance.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • May assist with running multiple CNC machines as needed.
  • Ability to load new tooling into machine and touch off.
  • Accurately check out tools through tool crib inventory system.
  • Basic fixtures and work holding.
  • Ability to qualify first part approval for inspection.
  • Assists with performing preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Ability to read, write and save setup sheets for various machines.
  • Perform small programming edits.
