Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Machinist II on 1st shift (6:00am-2:30pm) to join them. You will report to our Group Logistics Manager, and will have an onsite work schedule in Torrance, CA. Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft. We design and integrate FCAS systems for cutting edge aircraft like the F-35 Lightning II and the V280 Valor next generation tiltrotor Aircraft. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • 3 years or more of machining experience
  • Blueprint reading
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate two or more different types of large CNC saws producing quality production hardware.
  • Perform set-ups and all other machinist level functions.
  • Help plan work within the Cell.
  • Inspect all work performed; detect unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognize errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Use different shop measuring instruments for setting up and checking work, and in-process monitoring of hardware.
  • Meet production time standards on work assignments.
  • Apply good knowledge of practical shop mathematics.
  • Performs block checks on NC or CNC machines and detects errors in tapes to prevent scrap.
  • Perform other work of comparable or lesser difficulty as required.
  • Must be trained and certified in the elements of the Certified Operator Program and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Assist and instruct lesser skilled employees when required.
  • Assist the larger Logistics team with receiving, stock pulling, stocking, cycle counting, packing and shipping as needed.
