Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Machinist II to join its 2nd shift Machining team in Indianapolis. As our new Machinist II - 2nd Shift, you will be performing complete setups including advanced programming, editing, and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, and mills while mentoring fellow team members and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED/HSE
  • 2-4 years of manual machining experience (mills, drills, grinders)
  • 1-3 years of CNC programming, operation, and setup experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Allen-Bradley controls
  • Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading, shop math (decimals, fractions, geometry, trigonometry), and GD&T
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a non-climate-controlled facility

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical training or certification in machining or manufacturing technology
  • Strong experience using machining centers in a job shop environment with precision threading, boring, and grooving
  • Veterans with related technical MOS experience are strongly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Complete setup including CNC programming (Fanuc Controls/G Code), editing, operation, and preventative maintenance on milling centers, lathes, and mills
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Calculate and set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut; perform offsets, fixturing, and adjustments for tool wear and finish quality
  • Inspect finished work pieces for conformance to prints and GD&T specifications using precision measuring instruments and gages
  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to other machinists on assembly activities, processes, and best practices
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and 5S standards while completing all required manual and electronic documentation accurately
