About The Position

Set up and operate a variety of machines, including those controlled by tape, manuscript, or manual computer control, to perform operations such as milling, facing, drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, slotting, grinding, and turning. This role involves preparing parts for testing, performing inspections, selecting and setting up tools and fixtures, and operating supplemental machinery during automatic cycle times. The machinist will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, preserving parts, and performing all duties with a focus on quality and quantity.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate required.
Minimum of three years prior machining experience.
Ability to use all machining equipment, hydro and pump test stands.
Proficiency with basic cutting tools, dividing head, boring heads, parallels, jacks, vee blocks, hand tools, and other necessary equipment.
Experience with hoist operated cranes and other lifting equipment.
Experience with torque wrenches, hand and power grinders, files, and sanding discs.
Ability to work from verbal or written instructions, blueprints, charts, sketches, process specifications, and masters.
Ability to perform all duties without assistance, except on unusual or difficult jobs.
Ability to consistently produce work of proper quality and required quantity.
Use of advanced trades mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas; all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
Operator must wear personal safety equipment.

Nice To Haves

10 years machining experience OR 3-4 years HMC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate machines by tape, manuscript, or manual computer control to perform various machining operations.
Deburr and clean parts in preparation for Hydro testing.
Perform inspection checks and chart dimensions to ensure accuracy.
Select and set proper holding devices, fixtures, and attachments.
Position and clamp parts on machine tables, avoiding damage to finished surfaces.
Adjust and set cutting tools, select proper speeds and feeds, and set attachments.
Perform miscellaneous operations during automatic cycle time, such as preparing the next piece, simple deburring, and hydro testing.
Utilize CBS visual management board for scheduling and reporting.
Use precision measuring instruments to maintain dimensions and tolerances.
Set up and hydrostatic test parts using test presses and/or fixtures.
Apply required pressure and observe for leaks during hydrostatic testing.
Remove surplus metal, burrs, and foreign matter from parts.
Load and unload production washing machinery.
Preserve parts with rust preventative as required.
Maintain a clean and orderly working area, machines, and equipment.
Wear all necessary safety equipment.
Work from verbal or written instructions, blueprints, charts, sketches, process specifications, and masters.
Perform all duties without assistance, except on unusual or difficult jobs.
Consistently produce work of proper quality and required quantity.
