This role involves conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations, and wearing proper personal protective equipment. The position requires attending and successfully completing required training classes and maintaining a high awareness of applicable industry changes. The Machinist II will interpret engineering prints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. This includes selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. The role also involves calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors like speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or entering commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. The Machinist II will start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required, verifying the conformance of finished work pieces to specifications, and fitting and assembling parts as necessary. Additionally, the role includes operating welding equipment to cut or weld parts, as necessary. The position requires approaching work in a positive manner, maintaining conduct supportive of the work team, and setting a standard for others. It involves contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations. The Machinist II will monitor job expenses versus estimates and ensure the supervisor is aware of any cost overruns prior to job completion. Other duties as assigned.
