About The Position

We are looking for a Machinist to join our manufacturing team at Bluefors in Syracuse, NY. In this role, you will manufacture precision parts in low-production runs using manual machine tools. You will play an important role in producing high-quality components for advanced cryogenic systems while working in a hands-on, collaborative manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of machining experience preferred OR one-year certificate from a college or technical school with six months of related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to set up and use measuring tools
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and training documents
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision and quality
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Dependability and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Commitment to safety and following established procedures
  • Willingness to continue learning and developing technical skills
  • Ability to align with Bluefors Leadership Principles and workplace competencies
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

  • Familiarity with GD&T principles is a plus
  • Experience modifying or creating tooling
  • Experience performing first-piece and in-process inspections

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machines to complete work orders
  • Manufacture precision parts in low-production runs
  • Maintain required precision and accuracy throughout all machining operations
  • Inspect parts according to established policies and procedures
  • Perform first-piece quality inspections as verified by a supervisor or quality technician
  • Make and/or modify tooling as necessary
  • Qualify and use measuring tools daily and as needed throughout the shift
  • Monitor and record tooling, supplies, and raw material inventory usage
  • Notify appropriate personnel when tooling, supplies, or raw materials need replenishment
  • Clean machines, tooling, and finished parts
  • Perform basic machine maintenance as required
  • Complete ongoing technical training requirements
  • Assist with training Manufacturing Associates as applicable
  • Maintain good housekeeping and a clean, organized workspace
  • Follow all Bluefors quality and safety standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
