About The Position

To perform basic set-ups and machining operations on standard machine tool using all accessory tools and equipment necessary for completion of assignment, under supervision. This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related experience in manufacturing/ fabrication environment.
  • Requires judgment, initiative, and some specialized knowledge to resolve problems.
  • Experience or knowledge in production Machine operations, fixture & tooling, process, and quality controls
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work, strong literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and drawings.
  • Able to accurately read tape measures, scales, and rulers to the 1/32 of an inch.
  • Must have experience with manual machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred machining experience: Vertical & horizontal band saws, plate shear, press break, plate roll former, and various hand tools and grinders.
  • Plasma/torch table, burn tables.

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, CAD files, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Sets-up machines by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collects, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers
  • Loads materials into machines to be formed and shaped
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces
  • Adjust machine speeds and feeds and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications.
  • Inspects products upon completion to ensure they match specifications
  • Checks work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
  • Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
  • May mentor other employees
  • Interfaces with employees and managers within the department and Manufacturing Engineering
