About The Position

The Peddinghaus XDM 630 Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring the Peddinghaus XDM 630 CNC structural steel processing machine. The operator prepares and positions structural steel, reviews CNC programs and production requirements, monitors machine performance, performs quality inspections, and ensures finished material meets required specifications. Requirements

  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery or structural steel processing equipment preferred.
  • Experience with Peddinghaus equipment, particularly the XDM 630, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings, measurements, CNC programs, and production instructions.
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use measuring tools accurately.
  • Ability to identify defects and verify finished material against production requirements.
  • Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts, or willingness to obtain required certification.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Machine-operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to work second shift and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Peddinghaus XDM 630 CNC machine safely and efficiently.
  • Load, position, and secure structural steel beams and other material for processing.
  • Review CNC programs, work orders, shop drawings, and production specifications.
  • Verify material size, grade, length, orientation, and processing requirements before production.
  • Set up the machine and verify tooling, consumables, and machine settings.
  • Replace saw blades as required.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain production and quality requirements.
  • Inspect finished material for accurate hole locations, dimensions, cuts, coping, layout, and other required processing.
  • Use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring equipment to verify finished dimensions.
  • Identify machine malfunctions, tooling wear, and processing problems and notify supervision when necessary.
  • Replace tooling and consumables as required and perform basic machine adjustments.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment as authorized.
  • Maintain accurate production records.
  • Keep the machine and work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Communicate production status, machine issues, material concerns, and incomplete work to supervision.
  • Meet established production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
