As a Journeyperson General Salvage Technician (Machinist) at OEM, you will be responsible for operating machine tools to manufacture direct materials and salvage worn parts for use in the remanufacturing process. Requirements

  • Machinist Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required
  • Multiple years’ working experience and competency in a crank, block salvage or machine shop
  • Must have accurate documentation and measuring skills
  • Must be able to understand salvage specifications and related technical documentation, including technical drawings
  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively
  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures
  • Will require successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, a criminal background check, and a medical assessment

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C
  • Experience operating horizontal and vertical Lathes, Radial Arm Drills, Milling Machines, Surface Grinders, and Plate Sanding is preferred
  • Experience/proficiency with CNC Mills and Lathes (reading and writing CNC programs) is preferred
  • Portable Line Boring experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform salvage techniques on various machines such as; Horizontal Lathes, Radial Arm Drills, Small or Large Milling Machines, and operation of CNC Equipment (Lathes and Mills)
  • Maintain and clean equipment as required
  • Maintain Caterpillar contamination control initiatives

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $53.05 / Hour
