About The Position

Atlas is looking for new members of the team to become a Machinist Apprentice and help us grow in Louisville, KY. We are looking for bright, positive, and enthusiastic team members to join our company. This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth through a Journeyman Machinist Apprenticeship Program, where you can get paid while going to school, have your training 100% paid for by Atlas Machine for 4 years, earn a Journeyman Machinist Certificate, and graduate debt-free with a great income.

Requirements

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) High School is required.
• Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential functions of this job description successfully.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Position requires standing, sitting, squatting, twisting, or stooping for long periods

Nice To Haves

• Under supervision and guidance, the Machinist Apprentice sets up and operates hand and machine tools as directed by your supervisor and other Journeyman Machinist.

Responsibilities

• Machines various materials as directed.
• Modifies and adjusts metal parts for special projects.
• Performs preventative maintenance on tools, equipment, or machinery etc.
• Repair or make parts as directed.
• Assist in machine setup and teardown.
• Assists in the assembly and teardown of machinery and equipment as needed.
• Use, inspect, and maintain a variety of hand tools.
• Performs general tasks as assigned.
