About The Position

Kyocera International, Inc. is hiring a Machinist 4 at their Vancouver, WA location. This is a stable, long-term opportunity to support production and ensure high-quality output in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. The company is a leading manufacturer of high-tech ceramics used in aerospace, automotive, medical applications, and semiconductor processing. The Machinist 4 sets up and operates a wide variety of industrial machines, including CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and surface grinders, to machine ceramic parts. Machinists are expected to run 1-4 machines simultaneously, understand all aspects of setup and precision measuring, and may train other operators and machinists.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
7+ years CNC experience or on-the-job training to include completion of 2-year Machine Technology certificate
Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including decimal fractions.
Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD and T
Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Ability to either stand or walk for extended periods.
Ability to mentor, train or lead other Operators and machinists
Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
Eligible to work in an ITAR environment

Responsibilities

Set up and observe CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machine controls or indicators as required.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls.
Document all instances and circumstances of scrapped parts or machine issues.
Communicate effectively with peers on and off shift to ensure continuous effective machine utilization.
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications and complete independent First Article Inspection reports.
Read prints and inspect parts for conformance in accordance with ISO 9001.
Troubleshoot and review work of other machinists.
Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and record.
Adhere to all safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices.
Model and train others on departmental safety procedures, JSAs and directives.
Cross train on multiple machine types including 3 and 5 axis CNC machines and diamond tooling.
Calculate complex dimensions to meet tolerances and apply G and M codes and GD and T.
Troubleshoot and diagnose minor machine repairs.
Work on proto-type parts and new specifications with limited instructions or established procedures.
Write, test, edit and troubleshoot programs as assigned.
Communicate and interact effectively with production management, engineers, and quality team to make departmental improvements.
Make innovative suggestions for improvements.
Assume other projects as assigned by engineering and/or supervisor.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
