About The Position

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Machinist 2, 2nd shift. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide. Operates other types of machinery such as numerical control (NC) and computer numerical control (CNC). Operates several machines at once. Training will take place on the first shift (M-F, 7-3:30pm) for approximately 2–3 months. Once training is complete, the role will transition to the permanent 2nd shift schedule (M-TH, 3:15pm-1:45am).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of Vo-Tech, manufacturing, or mechnical exposure experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders and engineered drawings.
  • Demonstrated skills with hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and gauges).
  • Ability to read calipers.
  • Able to perform moderately complex math and computer tasks.
  • Subject Matter Understanding.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Inspecting/Examining Ability.
  • Mechanical Dexterity.
  • Machining Aptitude.
  • Housekeeping.
  • Troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Operates saws and delivers material to operators as needed.
  • Operates lift devices (chain hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts).
  • Keeps the material area clean and provides assistance with cycle count needs.
  • Conducts in-process inspection.
  • Prepares/enters/completes work order reporting, transactions, documentation, and non-conformances in applicable software and computer systems.
  • Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.
  • Must be able to pass the forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • Performs set up on at least one machine.
  • Able to set up and run 50% of the product on the primary machine.
  • Able to observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
  • Performs set up on at least one type of machinery/multiple machines.
  • Able to set up and run 80% of the product on the primary machine.
  • Able to observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
  • Makes adjustments and offsets to correct issues on primary machinery/dispatch groups
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required
