This position involves operating computerized lathes and machining centers, performing a variety of procedures including boring, milling, and turning. The role requires inspecting for quality using a coordinate measuring machine and applying problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include performing tool offsets using computerized equipment and working from blueprints and machine programming language. Secondary operations such as drilling, tapping, reaming, broaching, vibrating, tumbling, degreasing, sanding, polishing, and wire brushing may also be performed. The operator will visually check castings during machine operation, maintain a constant flow of castings, and may take measurements to ensure conformance to specifications. Operating a trim press for removing die casting gates and runners, and visually inspecting castings are also part of the role. Some assembly operations may be required. The position also emphasizes adherence to environmental, health, and safety rules.
