About The Position

Tidewater Community College (TCC) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Machining Technology courses. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses in which they have specific training or competence. This role involves planning, organizing, and delivering instruction to students with diverse academic backgrounds, utilizing various teaching methods including classroom, remote via Zoom, or online environments. The position requires engaging students outside of class through office hours and providing timely and effective feedback on their progress towards course and program learning outcomes. TCC has a long history of serving South Hampton Roads, providing higher education and workforce services with multiple campuses and regional centers.

Requirements

  • Specific training or competence in Machining Technology.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and teach courses.
  • Proficiency in providing feedback to students.
  • Ability to engage students outside of class.
  • Ability to deliver instruction in classroom, remote via Zoom, or online environments.
  • Daytime availability.

Responsibilities

  • Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in a discipline and/or program.
  • Align course activities with student learning outcomes, employ active learning strategies, utilize appropriate technology and supporting materials, and provide prompt and meaningful feedback to students.
  • Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes, adhere to college policies for student surveys of instruction, conduct timely assessments of student learning, and analyze previous semester evaluations to implement action plans.
  • Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned.
