The Machining Cell Operator works in the Machining Department on the weekend shift at an onsite location. The role involves setting up and operating NC milling machines, vertical turret lathes, or VTCs for routine production operations on similar weldments and assemblies. Work is performed using operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instructions to prepare equipment for turning, facing, boring, and chamfering operations on a limited number of surfaces. The operator verifies finished work against specifications using precision measuring instruments, maintains operator certification to accept or reject parts, and performs required total preventive maintenance on machines. The operator also collaborates with engineers, quality assurance, programmers, and production personnel to resolve machining problems and assist with part process development. Other tasks within the job’s scope and skill level may be assigned to support department objectives. Candidates should expect 4–6 months of on-the-job training during first-shift hours before moving to their assigned shift. No relocation assistance is offered. Training and learning opportunities include machining techniques and exposure to CNC turning, grinding, and assembling/disassembling.
