About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a MACHINERY MAINTENANCE MECHANIC to support a government contract based at Blount Island. This role performs duties described in the Service Contract Act Service Order MACHINERY MAINTENANCE MECHANIC. The position may involve performing duties of other classifications that have a pay rate equal to or lower than the employee’s current rate.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
Rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship, or equivalent training, and experience.

Responsibilities

Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose the source of trouble.
Dismantles or partly dismantles machines and performs repairs using primarily hand tools for scraping and fitting parts.
Replaces broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock.
Orders the production of replacement parts by a machine shop or sends the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.
Prepares written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
Reassembles machines and makes all necessary adjustments for operation.
Performs other duties as requested.
Maintains a safe work environment by completing all training requirements, fulfilling self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks, and serving on safety committees and teams.
Consistently provides services that meet customer expectations by conforming to the Amentum Quality Policy and carrying out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
Reads and understands Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.
Reads, understands, and implements general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the job.
