HP Hood is seeking a self-driven individual to join their team as a Machine Tender on the 2nd shift. This temporary position involves operating and maintaining support equipment for filling operations in a food and beverage manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a group/team atmosphere
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (6-8 Hours)
  • Ability to bend frequently
  • Ability to twist wrist frequently
  • Ability to twist spine frequently
  • Ability to lift light-heavy (<50 lbs Frequently, >50 lbs Occasionally)
  • Ability to carry light (30-50 lbs) frequently, distance 15 yards
  • Ability to push/pull >150 lbs Occasionally
  • Verification of identity and eligibility for employment in the United States
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 AM, Monday to Friday)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating support equipment related to filling operations, including bulk can forming machine, filler, lid descrambler, vision system, banding system, check weigher, coders, inverter, bundler, variegate system, and ingredient feeder.

Responsibilities

  • Properly form bulk cans to supply the bulk can filler at all times.
  • Add designated lids to the lid descrambler and ensure proper operation to supply the filler.
  • Calculate usage rates and operate the ingredient feeder and variegate system according to SOPs to ensure correct ingredient and variegate addition into ice cream.
  • Assist in the operation of banding machines and change rolls as needed.
  • Assist in the disassembly, cleaning, and assembly of ingredient feeders, variegate systems, and other related equipment.
  • Verify metal detectors are operating properly and complete documentation according to SOPs.
  • Operate the bundler to ensure a consistent and quality wrap on containers and change rolls as necessary.
  • Palletize product if necessary to maintain production, such as during temporary breakdowns in hardening systems.
  • Assist the filler operator during flavor changes and when problems arise to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Pack sandwich boxes into sleeves, and ensure finished cases are properly coded and shrink wrapped.
  • Operate PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) to move packaging and material in and out of work centers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and practices, including trash and cardboard removal, and disposition of rework and scrap barrels.
  • Follow all Company, State, and Federal requirements, ensuring compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and other regulations.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and display a positive attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Report unsafe observations or conditions to a supervisor or manager.
  • Immediately report an injury or accident to a supervisor or manager.
  • Meet all company requirements for training, including Log Out/Tag Out Awareness, PPE, PIT, Ergonomics, etc.
  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures.
  • Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager.
