About The Position

This role coordinates, operates, and monitors packaging machinery within the facility. The Machine Technician performs preventative maintenance on packaging machinery, assists Operators with troubleshooting and startup, and ensures efficient and safe production of company products. Duties include setting up and adjusting machinery, conducting regular inspections, following strict hygiene and safety protocols, troubleshooting and repairing issues, maintaining maintenance records, collaborating with production staff to minimize downtime, and performing changeovers. The position requires strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on safety and punctuality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have mechanical experience and/or a good understanding of mechanical functions.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to input data into a computer and touch screen.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as needed during the shift
  • Stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift
  • Use hands to finger, grip, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor food processing equipment and packaging machines, to ensure the efficient and safe production of company products.
  • Set up and adjust machinery and equipment as needed for each production run, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment to identify and address any malfunctions or issues that may affect production.
  • Follow strict hygiene and safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues prior to and during production with packaging machinery.
  • Ensure machines operate efficiently, safely, and according to specifications.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with production staff to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in startup and shutdown of equipment during shift changes.
  • Performs changeovers, as needed, prior to scheduled production dates.
