About The Position

The Kinetic Group is seeking transitioning service members for a SkillBridge Machine Shop Trainee opportunity at our Lonoke, AR office. This program offers hands-on experience in fundamental machining, equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance practices within a production-support environment. Under the guidance of experienced trainers and supervisors, you will be prepared for a career in precision manufacturing, with training in CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and quality control. This position is exclusively open to active-duty service members eligible for DoD SkillBridge.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong safety mindset.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Interest in machining, manufacturing, or maintenance careers.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national; U.S. lawful, permanent resident; Refugee; or Asylee, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
  • Must not fall into the categories prohibited by the Gun Control Act.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply safety procedures for operating machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, belt sanders, pedestal grinders, saws, and drill presses.
  • Understand proper raw material handling and safe workflow practices within the shop environment.
  • Assist with the basic setup, alignment, and operation of machine shop tools.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and consistent machining results.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for mechanical failures in machine parts used by production areas.
  • Participate in repairing or fabricating replacement components as needed.
  • Learn to identify and work with various types of metals and materials used in machining applications.
  • Use precision measuring and setup tools, such as calipers, micrometers, Rockwell hardness testers, and dial indicators, to verify component accuracy.
  • Gain introductory experience in soldering, brazing, and basic welding techniques.
  • Assist in simple fabrication tasks as assigned.
  • Understand the metal heat-treating process and how it affects material properties.
  • Learn types and proper use of cutting tools for machining operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment that supports safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks on machine shop equipment and learn basic maintenance repair practices.
