Machine Shop Supervisor - APM, 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 7:00am-3:00pm)
About The Position
The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for providing and promoting a safe work environment, supporting and mentoring team members, and ensuring product quality. This role involves guiding inspection methods, improving quality systems, and implementing corrective actions for rejected parts. The supervisor will also be involved in performance reviews, coaching, establishing best practices, and monitoring safety and manufacturing efficiencies. Additionally, they will maintain measurement systems, communicate with facility leadership, verify inventory levels, participate in the interviewing process, and work with suppliers to ensure the best value for the company and its customers. Assisting with set-ups, production, and troubleshooting are also key aspects of the role.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent degree
- 2+ years of CNC machining experience
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to recognize safety concerns
- Ability to utilize the proper inspection and measurement equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong coordination and judgment skills
- Basic math skills
- Excellent blueprint reading skills with a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Ability to take part in continuous education and training
- Ability to work outside of standard shift times when needed
Nice To Haves
- Associates degree in Machine Tool Technology or related program
- 1+ years of leadership experience
Responsibilities
- Provide and promote a safe work environment throughout the entire facility
- Support and mentor team members by assigning and scheduling work
- Provide guidance in regards to inspection methods and verification of product quality
- Work to improve quality systems by continually assessing customer product quality
- Follow and implement procedures for corrective action and rejected parts
- Download data, print charts and approve product for shipments
- Perform employee reviews, coaching conversations and encouragement to ensure all employees are supported and challenged to grow and develop within the organization
- Work to establish best practices and standardize processes that positively impact employee performance and overall production
- Monitor and improve safety, manufacturing efficiencies, and scrap through continuous improvement activities
- Maintain measurement systems to provide accurate information to all areas of the facility
- Interact and communicate with facility leadership to ensure all information related to employees and business operations is known and understood in a timely manner
- Monitor and verify inventory levels
- Participate in the interviewing and selection process
- Work with all necessary Alexandria Industries suppliers to ensure the “Best Value” to Alexandria Industries and its customers
- Assist with set ups, production, and trouble shooting
