About The Position

Precision Fuzing and Sensors is hiring a Machine Shop Operator I in Middletown, Connecticut. Working under the direction of the Group Leader with limited supervision, the operator performs finishing operations on machined parts with close-tolerance specifications in a production environment. The work includes setting up and using tools and machinery for deburring, drilling, tapping, blasting, polishing, and other secondary finishing processes, as well as inspecting parts for conformance to specifications. The position is on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The hourly pay range is $22.23 to $31.96.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Familiarity with shop practices, inspection, and safety.
Experience with finishing operations in a production environment.

Responsibilities

Perform finishing operations on machined parts with close-tolerance specifications under the Group Leader’s direction and with limited supervision.
Apply 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices in everyday work.
Use blueprints and verbal or written work instructions to set up tools and machinery for deburring and secondary operations, including hand deburring, drilling, tapping, sand blasting, tumble deburring, and passivation.
Perform repetitive deburring, polishing, grinding, and buffing to meet finish specifications.
Set up, adjust, and operate drill press equipment for difficult and intricate drilling, tapping, and counter-bore operations.
Perform general shop work such as drilling, machining, and sanding.
Obtain and maintain certification to perform passivation, abrasive blasting, and Molykote or Dry Film Lube application.
Examine and inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications under the operator acceptance program (OAP).
