About The Position
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detail‑oriented individual for our Machine Shop Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer in Pullman, WA. If you are looking for the opportunity to support machine shop operations within SEL, then this position is for you!
Requirements
- Are a current student pursuing a degree in Machine Tool Technology or relevant trade at an accredited institution.
- Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
- Are able to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment.
- Are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
- Have background check results satisfactory to SEL.
- Have negative drug test result(s).
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating CNC equipment
- Experience with CAD/CAM
- Experience operating CMM
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, setup and operate both manual and CNC machining and fabrication equipment.
- Learn and develop skills in the utilization of CAD/CAM software.
- Provide project support to current staff.
- Perform general blanking, deburring, and saw work.
- Perform general shop and equipment maintenance as directed.
