The Machine Shop Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the machine shop. This position leads, maintains quality standards, manages production schedules, and identifies opportunities to improve productivity and workflow.

Requirements

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and the ability to follow and enforce safety procedures.
  • Strong technical knowledge of machining processes, equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Strong understanding of Speeds and Feeds for a variety of materials.
  • Experience in multi part / multi pallet fixture design.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with CNC machining and CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines.
  • A minimum of five years of machine shop experience.
  • At least three years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to comply with all required personal protective equipment and safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Punch die design using Uni-Punch or Die sets preferred.
  • Mastercam experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule machine shop operations, including job assignments and resource allocation, to meet customer requirements and delivery deadlines.
  • Prepare cost estimates for tooling and finished-part machining, including milling, turning, and punching operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to prioritize work orders, resolve production issues, and optimize workflow efficiency.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and coach machine shop personnel to strengthen their technical skills and overall performance.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, quality, and equipment uptime.
