About The Position

As a Machine Shop Helper at Advanced Material Handling, you will play a vital role in supporting the machine shop team with setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines. This role is ideal for an apprentice in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year looking to gain hands-on experience in machining, programming, and quality control in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and safely in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-year machinist apprentice (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience with Haas control systems (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Overhead crane experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and run CNC Lathes and Mills as per provided drawings.
  • Assist in producing parts in a job shop-style machine shop, making a variety of different products.
  • Inspect and verify parts against blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Report CNC machine repair needs and assist in maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling and organization of raw materials and finished parts.
  • Work closely with the machine shop supervisor and team to meet production goals.
  • Support efforts to optimize programs, reduce machine spindle time, and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all company policies and safety regulations.
