About The Position

Work effectively and safely as part of a manufacturing team to maintain high quality and just-in-time production flow. This role is responsible for equipment setup, inventory control, setup and adjustment of production gauging, inspection of parts as needed for product quality, use of process control methods, and performing routine visual assessment of preventive maintenance requirements on tools and equipment. The position requires reading and interpreting all process documents, advising supervisors or engineering of clarifications and/or corrections, following detailed procedures, and maintaining cell records (e.g., SPC). The role also involves assisting in training team members in all operations, communicating production issues, moving and storing material in an orderly fashion, using hand-operated material handling equipment, and utilizing computer systems for production transactions and documentation. Collaboration with product development, engineering, and others is necessary to deliver product meeting customer requirements. Duties may include receiving drawings, process prints, set-up sheets, and other instructions. Setting up CNC machines or equipment in diversified operations such as machining, milling, turning, grinding, and riveting is required. Moving or directing the movement of materials in the cell to ensure a constant product flow is also a responsibility. The role demands the ability to interpret a variety of process prints and competently use provided measuring devices as production gauging, along with a thorough knowledge of machine controls and operation. While programming is not required, knowledge of offset functions is necessary. Production operations will be performed when not involved in other responsibilities, and machine operating and assembly may be required. Adherence to all safety rules and reporting of questionable conditions to the department supervisor is mandatory. Applying, following, and recommending Lean practices is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of CNC machines, CNC lathes & millers, material handling, other machines
  • Ability to read micrometers, bore gages, other complex gauging
  • Ability to make minor program edits
  • Ability to maintain tooling or modify tooling as required
  • Ability to trouble shoot tooling/programming problems on CNC equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to train others
  • High School education or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 year machining experience
  • Must be able to perform machine shop mathematics, setups, and machining procedures
  • Must be a 'U.S. Person' (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. permanent resident, individual granted asylum in the United States, and refugee in the United States)
