About The Position

Repairs and maintains machine tools and industrial machines applying knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics pneumatics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures. Diagnoses why machine malfunctioned and determines need for adjustment or repair. Dismantles machine or equipment, using hand tools or power tools, to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part. Replaces defective part with new part or repaired part. Assembles and test-operates machine to verify correction of malfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment. Assembles and welds auxiliary pieces of equipment as required. Burns to remove various components of machine as required. Inspects and measures finished parts to maintain statistical process control charts and verify machine repair. Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities. Maintains a clean work environment. Other duties as assigned by supervision. Conducts PM's as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two to four years of trade school and/or work experience or apprenticeship.
  • Ability to use and interpret fairly complicated blueprints.
  • Proficiency in advanced shop mathematics.
  • Ability to use a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to follow through routine clerical procedures.
  • Ability to analyze, plan and perform a sequence of operations where standard or recognized operation methods are available.
  • Must exercise sound judgment in making general decisions relative to machine repairs.
  • Employee is required to supply own tools.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
