About The Position

This role is for the 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm-11:00 pm, with the requirement to work two weekends per month for overtime. The position involves performing all tasks related to the repair and installation of heavy industrial equipment throughout the plant, adhering to standard work procedures, safety rules, and documented set practices. The role also focuses on maintaining product quality and performing other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Understand required PPE and where to obtain it.
  • Understand Lockout/Tag out procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational management skills.
  • Ability to operate arc weld and cutting torches.
  • Ability to carry out verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance guidelines.
  • Ability to work overtime (over 40 hours in workweek, or more than 8 hours per day).
  • Ability to work rotating shift schedule, or night shifts.
  • Has ability and knowledge of how to use micrometers, calipers.
  • Ability to lift dies up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a man lift 20 feet above the floor.

Responsibilities

  • Control all production tools in the plant, including extrusion, drawing, stranding, CV, and KoldWeld dies and machines.
  • Order extruder screens and breaker plates.
  • Maintain an inventory of all dies in the computer system.
  • Safely operate drill press, bench grinder, and die polishing machines.
  • Maintain and control tooling using LeanSigma tools, including visual techniques, color coding, 5S, standardization, and mistake-proofing.
  • Ensure proper tooling is available and in good condition, including replenishment, cleaning, organizing, and evaluating for wear or breakage.
  • Remove obsolete and damaged tooling from the system.
  • Interface directly with suppliers to order new tools and replace damaged ones.
  • Gauge, machine, and re-mark tools as needed with the correct size.
  • Assist operators with issues such as die waxing and die drool, and various problems ranging from set-ups to equipment issues.
  • Assist Process Engineering with extrusion issues, including aiding in tooling design.
