About The Position

Smalley is hiring a Machine Repair 2 for its Lake Zurich, Illinois location on second shift. The role supports manufacturing operations by troubleshooting, inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing production machinery and related equipment. The position also involves using maintenance-request and preventive-maintenance tracking software, interpreting mechanical and technical drawings, and improving production equipment to increase efficiency and reduce downtime. The listed salary range is $25.00–$30.00 per hour; actual pay may vary based on factors including education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location. The role is bonus and/or incentive eligible.

Requirements

Pass the required basic math and English exam.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in machine operating or manufacturing.
Experience with blueprints, calipers, and micrometers.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and clean machinery, including factory machines and rolling mills, and check oil levels and fans.
Use specialty equipment to complete job tasks.
Inspect and test machinery and equipment.
Install and repair electrical and plumbing equipment.
Use data software for maintenance requests and preventive-maintenance tracking.
Perform basic repairs as needed, including work on belts, hoses, and fittings.
Use hand tools, power tools, instrumentation, and measuring equipment to troubleshoot and repair failures.
Read and understand sketches, blueprints, and CAD drawings of mechanical assemblies.
Read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.
Upgrade and improve production equipment to increase efficiency and minimize downtime.
Understand hazards and dangers associated with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the construction, testing, and operation of complex equipment.
