About The Position

BlueScope is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator to operate and maintain machinery that shapes materials into high-quality components. The position is suited to experienced operators as well as candidates eager to learn and grow. The role pays $26.08 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential, and works Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with some required overtime. The Machine Operator sets up and operates machines, positions materials, checks product quality, maintains equipment and material inventory, and supports housekeeping and continuous improvement activities. The listed duties describe the general nature of the work; associates may be assigned other duties.

Prior machine operating experience is welcome, but not required.

Responsibilities

Operate machines to cut, punch, bend, weld, or otherwise shape materials into specified components to meet current demands.
Set up machines and confirm specifications using drawings, blueprints, tablets, or other tools.
Safely use lifting devices, such as cranes and forklifts, to position materials or parts as needed.
Use measuring tools and inspection processes before, during, and after production to ensure materials meet specifications.
Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
Track material inventory, perform machine maintenance, and support housekeeping and organizational standards such as 5-S practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
