About The Position

This position provides coverage on various machines when the primary operator is away from their station. This position will also assist with the setup and breakdown of the production line as well as daily equipment checks to ensure they are working properly while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for working on rework and cleaning when needed. Machine Operator operates machinery for continuous and efficient production of high-quality flour tortillas. This position starts at $18.80/hr. With a shift increase for 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have 3 months of experience with any employer.
  • Requires flexibility of wrists and hands.
  • Required to work rework.
  • Required to give breaks to operators.
  • Required to clean when not giving breaks to operators.
  • Walking, bending, standing and some lifting required.
  • Lifting of up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to move heavy objects (100 lbs.) with mechanical device.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Required to use and read scales and thermometers
  • Must be able to use a calculator to figure production yields, scrap yields, and SPC specifications, etc.
  • Must be able to read all associated SOP’s including Operator’s Logs, SPC charts, etc.
  • Must be able to write production recordings in the Operator’s Logs and fill out production documentation completely and accurately.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT TRAINING REQUIRED before training or operating line.
  • Operates all head side equipment per SOP as defined in the Production Manual.
  • Prepares for start-up or shut down of equipment.
  • Keeps a legible accurate record as required including Line Operator's Log.
  • Stops machine to make required adjustments, following lockout-tagout policy.
  • Maintains good manufacturing practices and personal hygiene.
  • Keeps department clean and neat.
  • Notifies Supervisor and QC of contamination, mechanical or operational issues.
  • Must be able to perform the Machine Operators Training Checklist job tasks by the end of the 10-working day trial period.
  • Ensure product specifications are met in accordance with customers written specifications.
  • Must adhere to all safety policies and operate equipment in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear and tear on equipment.
  • Must have the ability to enter data into the Plant View system.
  • MUST ATTEND DAILY END OF SHIFT MEETINGS FOR THEIR SHIFT.
  • Abide by all company policies / procedures, written or verbal.
  • Work as a team member toward task accomplishments.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned.
