About The Position

Tenneco / Champion Ignition is recruiting energetic, highly motivated individuals with mechanical aptitude to help produce Champion spark plugs. Newly hired production employees may be responsible for setting up, repairing, operating, and supplying equipment used to assemble ignition products and components at the Burlington, Iowa facility. Success requires the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, tobacco- and smoke-free manufacturing environment.

Candidates must be available for all shifts, including a weekend shift. Mandatory overtime is required. The position has a six-month wage progression: newly hired associates receive 90% of the top wage for the job during the first six months and 100% after six months. The top rate is approximately $23.50 per hour. Employees assigned to second or third shift are eligible for a $0.65-per-hour shift premium; employees assigned to a weekend shift are eligible for a higher hourly rate.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Availability for all shifts, including a weekend shift.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime.
• Pre-employment physical and drug screen are required.

Nice To Haves

• Manufacturing or mechanically related experience.
• Two years of post-high-school technical education.
