The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. This role requires understanding and following safety rules and precautions, as well as quality and customer standards. The operator will utilize computerized equipment, machine controls, and quality measurement devices, along with handheld metal working and packaging tools. Responsibilities also include operating material handling equipment, performing routine preventive maintenance, and marking parts with identification. Interpreting blueprints and technical data to select correct materials is also a key function. Continuous improvement practices are expected in the work area, and other duties may be assigned.
