About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating the Grind, Shred, Big and Small milling machines and supporting the performance of the entire Grind operation. The operator performs work throughout the operation to meet requirements, operates PLC-driven high-speed machinery and PIT equipment, carries out quality checks, reports and helps address machine problems, and maintains production and downtime records. The position is scheduled for the first shift, Tuesday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of warehouse experience.
Experience independently operating machinery and producing a quality product in a team-based environment.
Ability to speak, read fine print, and write in English; follow verbal and written directions; write simple correspondence; and communicate effectively with others.
Willingness to be cross-trained to operate different styles of PIT equipment.

Responsibilities

Operate Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-driven high-speed Grind operation machinery.
Operate PIT equipment to load and unload gaylords and supersacks into small rack spaces.
Perform air flow, heat and clog checks throughout the day, inspecting for machine defects, material defects and quality.
Report machinery breakdowns, clean machine jams, and coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime and promote productivity.
Assist technicians with more complex machinery breakdowns and repairs upon request.
Periodically adjust PLC air flow to help ensure peak machine efficiency.
Provide daily production and downtime count reports.
Perform general housekeeping around the machine, including sweeping floors and cleaning machine parts.
