About The Position

The Slitter Operator is responsible for the overall productivity of the slitter line to meet or exceed operational goals set by the Plant Manager. This is a second shift position with a schedule of 7:30 PM -6:00 AM Monday - Thursday. As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Slitter Operator position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
One or more years machine operating experience
Good written and oral communication skills
Good organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
Ability to measure using different tools
Ability to read and transfer data accurately
Basic math and computer skills
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, suppliers, and management

Nice To Haves

Two or more years coil slitting experience

Responsibilities

Build set-ups by placing spacers and knives onto the slitter arbors and cut metal coils to customer specifications.
Monitor the process of metal being cut and adjust equipment accordingly for the gauge of the material.
Produce metal products to conform to customer specifications and quality requirements.
Enter data legibly and accurately of the exact specifications onto the appropriate forms for eventual data entry into the computer.
Direct Slitter Helper how to stage coils to be processed for maximum efficiency.
Inform Operations Manager when supplies to perform job duties are in low supply.
Safely drive the forklift in the plant to move coils and skids to designated areas.
Operate the over-head crane to move coils to the slitter from storage and/or from the slitter to next appropriate area.
Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.
Cross train the Slitter Helper.
Adhere to all RMP safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
Adhere to all RMP handbook policies and procedures.
