The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator is to operate machinery in the fabrication shop and to ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • 1+ years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment, with increasing responsibility over time
  • Experience running machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic to advanced mechanical skills related to equipment maintenance
  • Ability to drive production according to a set schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Cross-functional expertise on multiple pieces of equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to identify stone characteristics and material defects with accuracy
  • Exhibits leadership and mentoring skills as experience increases

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery in the fabrication shop
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols
  • Operate, maintain, and demonstrate mastery of one or more machines; cross-trained on multiple machines as applicable
  • Inspect slabs for defects and ensure cuts are accurate
  • Polish and cut stone and edges to specifications
  • Apply increasing knowledge of materials and stone characteristics to ensure quality output
  • Perform machine operations and maintenance with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
  • Support workflow and production schedules as required
  • Provide guidance or mentoring to other operators as applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned
