WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The Machine Operator is primarily responsible for efficiently operating packaging machinery to produce various products according to customer specifications. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Read and understand daily production schedule and material requirements. Transport needed packaging materials to production area. Set-up and operate packaging equipment with correct materials and product based on order specifications. Safely and efficiently stack finished product where required. Meet daily production requirements. Perform periodic quality control checks to ensure product is packaged according to customer requirements (including checking end and back seals, and date codes). Perform efficient and timely change overs of product varieties; must follow pre-set guidelines and change out filtering screens based on product variety/size. Set, adjust and periodically check the flow of product through a foreign materials machine. Check magnet for any foreign materials and document and report as required. Accurately complete and maintain required documentation on product, materials/supplies, output and machine downtime. Troubleshoot minor packaging problems and make appropriate adjustments on equipment. Communicate with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs. Comply with company safety policies and maintain clean and orderly work area. Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms. Perform other duties as assigned by Production Manager, Production Lead or other members of management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills including touch screens.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Must be able to meet daily production requirements.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must display a positive attitude and work well with all levels of employees whether individually or in a team environment.
  • Effectively communicate questions, problems and reports to co-workers, supervisory and management personnel.
  • Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed.
