About The Position

This position is for a Machine Operator in the Production department, working the 3rd shift. The role requires the ability to work any shift and perform duties at all job stations within Production, including Platform and Sanitation. The operator will be responsible for various tasks related to dough preparation, product finishing, packaging, and material handling, ensuring quality standards and safety protocols are met.

Requirements

  • One year as a packer or feeder or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent or a combination of experience & technical training.
  • General knowledge of how machinery works.
  • Good hand / eye coordination.
  • Ability to count and perform basic math.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to keep up with machine speed through repetitive motion.
  • Ability to perform all duties so as not to produce damage.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for 10-12 hours per day.
  • Physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant.
  • Able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
  • Able to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc.
  • Able to read and comprehend the production schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Set the speed of the divider to the required standard and ensure accurate scaling (checked 3 times per dough: beginning, middle, and end).
  • Keep the dry proofer free of old dough or debris and monitor dusting flour for even distribution.
  • Fill out Divider quality check sheets and divider charts properly, especially during variety changeovers.
  • Prepare Puratos Glaze according to SOP, documenting lot numbers and quantities used for traceability.
  • Keep the seeder full and document lot numbers and quantities used for traceability.
  • Monitor the glaze sprayer and seed depositor for even distribution.
  • Assist with removing pans from the Stewart pan stacker and help in other bakery areas as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Communicate with the previous mixer about dough mixing status.
  • Scale ingredients for one dough at a time using small scoops up to 5lbs.
  • Load 50lb bags and 60lb buckets of ingredients into the mixer.
  • With assistance, load up to 100lb buckets of reclaim dough into the mixer.
  • Scale ingredients for the next dough according to the dough schedule.
  • Pull the dough trough to the front of the mixer upon cycle completion and use mixer controls to transfer dough.
  • Complete documentation for the wrapper, including weight, temperatures, slice counts, and lot traceability.
  • Review the list of the current production run for the wrapper.
  • Verify correct and legible codes on bags/cases.
  • Ensure slicers are set correctly for the proper number of slices.
  • Ensure bagger machines are set up properly and fastened correctly.
  • Fill orders correctly using the wrap sheet for timely customer delivery.
  • Move product from packaging lines to the appropriate trailer or staging area.
  • Load product from the staging area to trailers.
  • Remove out-of-code product from the floor, requiring constant checking of date and price codes.
  • Unload in-bound (purchased) product.
  • Complete paperwork with accuracy and neatness.
  • Perform trailer checks (sweeping/damage) and document information.
  • Inform the supervisor in advance about floor inventory of empty trays and other equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Promote employee safety in all operational areas.
  • Report any unsafe areas immediately to Management.
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Sanitation Practices throughout the facility and grounds as directed.
  • Adhere to food safety standards developed by Northeast Foods.
