About The Position

AGF is seeking a Machine Operator for the day shift at our plant in Ottawa. This role involves bending, cutting, and bundling steel bars using automatic, semi-automatic, and manual machinery. The work contributes to major construction projects, and AGF has a long history of supplying and installing reinforcing steel for significant projects across the country.

Requirements

• A degree or diploma in technical engineering, architecture, or building design.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in rebar detailing.
• Proficiency in design and drafting using AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings.
• Capacity to work under pressure and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Bend, cut, and bundle steel bars using automatic, semi-automatic, and manual machinery.
• Review detailers' drawings to make sure there are no errors and that they comply with Canadian and government standards.
• Release bar lists for the manufacturing of reinforcing steel with specified lengths, diameters, and bending requirements.
• Produce placing drawings according to Structural Drawings.
• Schedule and plan on-site delivery of rebar.
• Draft RFIs for the Project Manager to send to clients.
• Suggest and implement technical solutions to improve site and project outcomes.
• Monitor the drawing submission schedule in accordance with the project timeline.
• Communicate regularly with Project Managers.
