About The Position

The Machine Operator position may work in various departments including Burn Table, Round, Tack & Seal, Stock Fittings, Flanges, and Spiral. The role is responsible for insulating and assembling product for delivery, using sealant to properly seal product, and reading work orders or following oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. The operator will also open containers, identify and work with different types of metals, and load/unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand when needed. They will transport materials to the next workstation or shipping area, count, weigh, and record daily production, and attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark product information. The role also involves assisting in various departments as needed, operating machinery such as computer, spot welder, roll forming, Sciaky welder, swedging machine, hydraulic shear, hand brake, and power tools. Fabricating sheet metal per specific instructions by reading tags, tack welding with MIG weld, and using hand tools including a tape measure and calculating simple math are also key functions. The ability to learn multiple areas and processes is essential. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school education (or equivalent) preferred and/or previous factory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in standard units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and use tape measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to adhere to delegation of authority and lead by instructions of management and supervision.
  • Basic computer skills may be preferred or required.
  • Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required achieving internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with the assistance of other employees.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
