About The Position

C&B Piping, LLC is seeking a Machine Operator for its plant in Amherst, Virginia. The role supports operations across a variety of production areas, which may include fabrication, machine operation, CNC, maintenance, sandblasting, finishing, paint, welding, material handling, and shipping and receiving. The operator runs production equipment and is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and product quality, as well as a willingness to cross-train within the operation.

C&B Piping, founded in 1986, supplies ductile iron piping systems, with a primary focus on water and wastewater treatment plants. The company is an independent subsidiary of AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company and emphasizes hard work, integrity, customer care, and employee contributions. This is an onsite position in an industrial plant environment; it is not remote or hybrid.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure and documentation, with attention to detail.
• Strong safety awareness for oneself and others.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to bend and stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and to lift or push more than 35 pounds using proper equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a heavy machinery environment.
• Certification to operate forklifts and/or heavy equipment.
• Experience in distribution, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or construction.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support production processes while following standardized work and equipment procedures.
• Perform quality checks and inspections as needed.
• Solve problems, contribute to continuous improvement, and learn to recognize equipment malfunctions in advance.
• Handle materials correctly in the assigned area, such as fabrication, finishing, saw, blast, or welding.
• Read a tape measure accurately.
• Use proper personal protective equipment and handle equipment and products safely; comply with company policies and OSHA safety regulations.
• Maintain good housekeeping and perform 5S activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary or appropriate.
