About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for the overall production on the shred production lines and attached equipment. This role involves following and maintaining all related Process Control Points (PCPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs). The operator will facilitate quick changeovers, assist in cleaning, emptying trays and tubs, and provide general assistance as needed. This position may require coverage on other shifts due to vacations or other operational needs. The operator will work with leaders and fellow partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety, and understand and execute standard operating procedures relative to the position. They will perform all required PCP and CCP checks and follow the reaction plan for Food Safety, Food Quality, and customer requirement outages by contacting the Technical Advisor/Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential and non-essential tasks related to the job.
  • Successful Partners must follow and maintain PCP’s, Critical Control Points and Safety Procedures.
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • All Operator Mechanic bid holders must be cross functional.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Gain and maintain an understanding of all equipment.
  • Willing to perform duties assigned, manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have general spreadsheet knowledge/application (WordPerfect, Excel, and E-mail Systems).
  • Must be able to bend over, squat, twist and stoop during the performance of work duties.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and maintain all related Process Control Points (PCPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Facilitate quick changeovers.
  • Assist in cleaning, emptying trays and tubs, and assisting where needed.
  • Work with Leaders and fellow partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety.
  • Understand and execute standard operating procedures relative to position.
  • Perform all PCP and CCP checks required for position.
  • Follow reaction plan for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement outages and by contacting TA/TL.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.
  • Follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, and meet OSHA safety requirements.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements.
  • Assist in machine setup and tear down.
  • Read production orders and remain flexible to meet customer requirements.
  • Test metal detector once an hour and record data accordingly.
  • Load keycel into hopper or dispensing device.
  • Change and/or rethread film and zipper.
  • Calibrate scales.
  • Change and adjust shred heads, using safety lock out tag out procedures.
  • Assist in color, size and style changes, remove product, empty trays and tubs and assist in cleanup of equipment.
  • Maintain Process Control Points, record data accordingly.
  • Keep area clean and debris out of work area.
