About The Position

The following details the expectations of a Decorating Machine Operator. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, visually checking the quality of print against approved samples, and ensuring the quality of product within their assigned zone/machine(s). The operator will load product into printers, sort through start-up materials, pack parts, stir and add ink, clean machine components, change and trim blankets, start/stop printers, clean color heads, rollers, and fountains, and set up color heads for the next print run. They will also assist decorating technicians with change-overs, check plates, inks, labels, and color standards, clear jams, and maintain appropriate machine speeds. Adherence to GMPs, Food Safety, and CCPs is required, along with maintaining paperwork such as audits and downtime logs. Additional duties include the application of printed labels to boxes and any other tasks assigned by a supervisor or department manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, equivalent or on the job training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Visually check quality of print against approved sample (check if light or dark, check if off-center, check if faded or missing print, check molding parts for shorts, flash, strings, grease, etc.).
  • Maintain quality of product within your zone/machine(s).
  • Load product into lid and cup printers.
  • Sort through start-up.
  • Pack parts and verify count is correct.
  • Stir and add ink.
  • Clean blankets and plates.
  • Change and trim blankets.
  • Start/stop printers.
  • Clean color heads, rollers and fountains.
  • Set up color heads for next print run.
  • Assist decorating technicians with change-overs.
  • Check plates, inks, labels and color standard against traveler.
  • Clear unload in-feed, and restacker jams.
  • Maintain appropriate speed assigned each printer.
  • Follow all GMPs, Food Safety, and CCP’s.
  • Maintain paperwork such as audits, downtime logs and etc.
  • Application of printed label to box.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor or department manager.
