About The Position

This facility is a highly automated meat processing/packaging facility located in Kansas City, KS. This position is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of product through the production process and ensuring proper ingredients/supplies are being used on the line. It is also responsible for monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and notifying the supervisor if machines should require maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Applicants will be considered for an opening on either Raw or RTE production areas.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 months of machine or packer operator experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months of continuous work in the last 3 years.
  • Must be willing and able to be exposed to a cold/damp work environment with temperatures ranging from 28-42 degrees.
  • Must be willing and able to lift, push, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment and requires repetitive motions.
  • Must be willing and able to stand, bend, reach overhead, and twist for long periods.
  • Must be willing and able to stand 8-12 hours a day on a hard floor.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of product through the production process.
  • Ensuring proper ingredients/supplies are being used on the line.
  • Monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed.
  • Notifying the supervisor if machines should require maintenance.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Combining various meat and raw ingredients to formulate stuff and deliver the product to logs to the cooking system (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Basic lubrication, inspection adjustments, repairs, cleaning (CLAIRLEAN Manufacturing), sanitation (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Contributing to a continuous improvement environment by participating in activities to include line side problem-solving (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Operating forklifts (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Identifying and acting upon system-based error messages (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Resolving jams and equipment malfunctions (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Opening and closing work orders in the MES system (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Monitoring, interpreting, and resolving system alerts (Raw Machine Operator).
  • Monitoring the robotic pocket fill and supplying the line with film (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Monitoring the peeler, cook/chill system, and unload monitor (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Maintaining throughput, yield, quality, food safety, and personal safety ensuring the supply of customer orders (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Operating the film lift mobbing 500lb film rolls (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Identifying a variety of potential product defects in a short period of time (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Safely and efficiently resolving jam-ups and equipment malfunctions (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Identifying material quality defects and taking appropriate action (i.e. film) (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Operating scales (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Weighing drafts of meat using bench-top scales for speed and weight accuracy (RTE Machine Operator).
  • Operating handheld digital scanners (RTE Machine Operator).
