About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining complex machinery to ensure the production of high-quality products. This role involves conducting quality inspections, troubleshooting equipment issues, and leading problem-solving initiatives. Join Avery Dennison as a Machine Operator, where you will serve as the technical pilot of our high-speed coating production lines. We are looking for a mechanically curious problem-solver who takes pride in process ownership—from complex machine setups and precision changeovers to real-time troubleshooting and quality analysis. In this role, you won't just monitor equipment; you will drive efficiency and safety by diagnosing root causes and collaborating with a high-performing team to deliver world-class materials science solutions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • May require the ability to stand/walk for up to 80% of your shift, with frequent pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and squatting 50% of the time.
  • May require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds for up to 50% of your shift.
  • May require being comfortable working in an environment with varying temperature and humidity.
  • Comfortable using computer applications for production tracking.
  • Ability to work overtime and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Must complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire.
  • Must not falsify medical information on the questionnaire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup, operation, and changeover of coating assets, including face/liner unwinds, dies, and main winding consoles.
  • Use a Curiosity mindset to identify malfunctions early and perform minor repairs to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct routine product testing using standard measuring devices to ensure all output meets strict specifications.
  • Maintain optimal production flow by adjusting temperatures, pressures, and flow ratios based on real-time data from meters and gauges.
  • Utilize Digital Fluency to maintain accurate production logs and inventory counts within our manufacturing systems (MFG Pro).
  • Promote a "Team Before Self" environment by following all safety protocols and supporting continuous improvement (ELS) initiatives.
