About The Position

The Machine Operator Lead is responsible for ensuring product safety and quality in all aspects of their duties. This role requires a fundamental understanding of all blowmolding platforms within the plant. The lead will possess the skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain processes, ensuring clean and safe production lines. They are responsible for identifying and communicating maintenance needs to the maintenance department and supervisor when a line is down, and will collaborate with maintenance to resolve issues quickly and restore production. Additionally, the lead will coordinate operator breaks, communicate downtime and productivity issues to supervisors, and assess and coordinate new operator training, ensuring proper documentation of operator progressions. This position may also fill in for the supervisor during their absence and is responsible for evaluating and maintaining a safe work environment according to established standards and guidelines, including inspecting work areas for unsafe conditions. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is maintaining a clean and safe working environment through sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties as necessary, all while adhering to safety rules and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
  • Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.
  • Cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure product safety and quality.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain blowmolding platforms.
  • Repair lines or provide information to maintenance and supervisor for line repairs.
  • Work with maintenance to solve issues and get lines back into production.
  • Coordinate operator break times.
  • Communicate extended machine downtime and/or productivity issues to Supervisors and/or manager.
  • Assess and coordinate new operator training and ensure proper documentation of operator progressions.
  • Fill in the Supervisory position when the supervisor is out of the plant.
  • Evaluate and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
